Its not a dream anymore

SATURDAY

Best weekend ever, ill start at the beginning. I’m really into my music right now so I am typing and singing… this could turn out bad but Ill just going to go with it! Bettina has a truck and I love her truck, it makes me want a truck super oober bad! I love the weekends here, there are infinite things to do and people to meet! This weekend was long because we had Monday off. It was extremely convenient that I came on a holiday weekend; I couldn’t have planned it better! Anyways Bettina had to take her truck into the shop to get a safety check and then we went to the store to buy food to barbeque later, by the way food is EXTREAMLY expensive here. Speaking of food, which I love, my new favorite thing is coconut water, especially when we get fresh coconuts from the farm and hack them open…you’ve never tasted anything so good in your life. My mind is going a million miles an hr right now, it’s probably because of the super strong yummy coffee I just downed, so please excuse my rambling. If you talk to me frequently in person this should be no surprise to you :p. OK after the store we went to this secluded place you have to practically off road drive to get to. Its really only residents that know about this waterfall so it was an honor I was able to visit it. Technically I am a resident muahahah. The hike is pretty easy and breathtakingly beautiful. Wes and Bettina actually hike barefoot most of the time, but I’m not that hard core YET. The place we hiked made me feel like I was in Pandora; I kept waiting for Jake Sully to pop out, but that never happened. There are vines that you can swing on hanging everywhere, moss lines most of the trees and some even have these vines with huge leaves wrapped all the way up and around them. Lush, green, wild plants are growing everywhere, and the air is intoxicating. It’s seriously amazing; you can’t explain the beauty and energy to someone who is not witnessing the same thing. Describing the beauty of this island is like explaining an inside joke to an outsider, but I’m doing my best. When you get down to the end of the hillside there are a series of little waterfalls and pools you can swim in, but we were going to the biggest waterfall. The waterfall is so beautiful and there is a place the rocks jet out to make a huge cave you can swim in. The water was cold, but you don’t even feel it because you are being blown away with the beauty of life. After we swam for a long time we laid out on the rocks to dry off. There are these flowers that have a gel inside that you can use as a natural conditioner, my hair loved it. The flower makes your hair smell really nice too. When we got home we were all starving! Bettina is an amazing cook and made this huge yummy salad and started grilling peppers, eggplant, onions and bananas. Seriously if you haven’t had grilled banana you are not living, it’s like a tastegasm. After eating way too much we watched Ferngully in the yoga room on this huge projector, and then went in the hot tub for some much needed muscle relaxation. Every time I see the stars I am blown away, and I’m sure I always will be. I was totally sleepy that night and sleep came easy! It was a good day.

SUNDAY

Sunday fun day! I slept in, ate yummy breakfast, listened to good music and packed for our camping trip. We ended up going to Little Beach for our adventure which made more time in the day to go…you guessed it HIKING!!! Bettina, Wes and I went to the bamboo forest and swam in the waterfall there. The hike was so fun. It’s a bamboo forest which is self explanatory but for anyone who needs help close your eyes and picture a shit load of bamboo….there you go! The bamboo makes the hike a huge maze. When we got to the waterfall we swam to the water fall, climbed up it and sat on the rocks and under the rushing water for a while. It was seriously such an amazing thing to have done. I remember sitting there thinking how awesome it was that I get to sunbathe and relax on a waterfall. It was raining off and on all day, living here really makes you appreciate all of the elements you forget about in the city. The rain is so amazing here; it’s warm and inviting, just beautiful. Sometimes ill be ready to leave my room and all of a sudden a downpour will start and last for 10 min, its pretty amazing. Back at the farm we got all our stuff together, Shiva lent us a tent and off we went. Before we got to the beach we stopped at Mana to get lots of yummy munchies for dinner and b-fast. After our food run we drove to the beach. Little Beach is on the opposite side of the island and it looks totally different. We live on the wet side of the island and we were going to Wailea the dry side, so we didn’t need to worry about getting soaked. On the way there I saw a rainbow and I got to see the end of it!!! I didn’t even know that could happen, it was seriously so awesome. Were we were there are two beaches, Big Beach and Little Beach. There was a lava flow that separated the two beaches and one is little and private the other is, well, big. From what I gather (and experienced) little beach is kind of a “hippie” gathering spot, it is also a nude beach. When we got to the beach there were already loads of people and a drum circle. We pitched our tent and then we went for a swim and watched the sun set. This was my first time swimming in the Hawaiian oceans and they are more wonderful than I could have ever hoped. The water is crystal clear blue and so warm. After the swim we walked around meeting people, dancing and having a good time. When it was totally dark fire dancers came out and danced with….you guessed it… FIRE. What they do is both amazing and beautiful! Speaking of fire, I have never been so connected to the elements and been so in MY element. Earth, Air, Fire and Water are everywhere; perhaps that is why things are so much more balanced here. Anyways, for the sake of keeping this all PG-13 and the fact that family may or may not be reading this I will leave the rest of my night to your imagination ;) all I can say about it is……..wow.

MONDAY

We ended up getting hardly any sleep, but I am totally fine with that because the only thing keeping me up was the sound of waves crashing on the shore. We all woke up at 6:30, just in time for sunrise. From the beach we camped on you can see two other little islands. It was all seriously unreal, I have had to pinch myself so many times here, and it’s the coolest feeling when you realize you are living your dream. There were still a lot of people sleeping on the beach and one camp site already had a fire going. Bettina and I went for a sunrise swim. While we were swimming one of the campsites formed a little drum circle and you could hear it from the ocean. Bettina and I were the only ones in the ocean, I felt so tribal and amazing. A good friend, a beautiful sun rise, crystal clear ocean and some soul music……seriously so amazing. After our swim Steve, Bettina and I walked over to Big Beach to catch the rest of the sunrise. We walked the length of the beach and ended up going for another swim. The waves at this beach are non-existent, it’s more like rolls, so the swimability (made that up) is a 10. After our walk we were all exhausted and hungry so we ate all out food and pooped out in the sand. Eventually our hunger and need for coffee came back, took over and we packed up and went into town for some much needed food and caffeine. I’m not sure if the food tasted so good because it was really good food, or we were famished, either way we couldn’t stop talking about how good the food was. When we got home we unpacked and then I ended up hanging out with Steve for a while, which I really enjoyed. It’s surreal how fast you get to know and love people when you live with them. I already feel so much love for my fellow house mates; it’s like the best kind of family. The rest of the night I was so tired, I ended up peacing out early, but only after Steve saved me from a cockroach in my room. Thank you Lord for that, I would have never fallen asleep! THE END
